A sophisticated and warming classic, this cocktail is essentially a Manhattan made with Scotch. Using The Sassenach Whisky highlights its notes of orchard fruit, vanilla, and spice, pairing beautifully with sweet vermouth and bitters.

Ingredients

  • 60ml The Sassenach Spirit of Home Whisky
  • 30ml Sweet Vermouth
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Garnish: Maraschino cherry

Method

  1. Combine Ingredients: Pour The Sassenach Whisky, Sweet Vermouth, and all bitters into a mixing glass.
  2. Chill and Dilute: Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice. Stir gently but thoroughly for 20–30 seconds until the mixture is deeply chilled and perfectly diluted.
  3. Strain and Garnish: Fine strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass. Garnish either with a plump Maraschino cherry or by expressing the oils from a lemon twist over the drink.
