More on the Wine

divide (2)
Argentina's flagship red grape variety, Malbec, coming from a prime vineyard 900m above sea level at Finca La Anita. The old malbec vines on the estate produce some outstanding fruit that has great ripeness and intensity whilst retaining fresh acidity. 60% of the wine is aged 12 months in first and second-use French and American oak barrels and aged a further 6 to 12 months in bottle before release. Exceptional when accompanying barbequed foods - anything full flavoured, slightly smokey or delicately charred.

Premium wine from Mendoza, Argentina

Finca La Anita was purchased in the 1990s by chemical engineer Manuel Mas who was spending time travelling around Europe, where he became more and more inspired by the continent's wine culture. Having visited many smaller wineries in Italy, he decided on his return to plant vines in the then unheralded region of Alto Agrelo in Mendoza.

Finca La Anita, named after his mother, was to be the first vineyard in the area dedicated to premium wines rather than mass-produced bulk wines. Over the next 20 years, Mas established Finca La Anita on the domestic and international stage before finally stepping down to enjoy his retirement with his family.

Since 2016, Origin Wine has been the custodian of this precious site, further honing the quality of its wines. Today, the vineyard covers 72 hectares, a combination of high-altitude (1,000mt) plantings of largely Bordeaux varieties served by the ideal combination of rich soils and the natural water stream of the Andes Mountains.
